Within minutes of us pitching our tent at the Camping Michelango – a seedy site but with a magnificent view over the city of Florence – the rain started. And it continued most of the time we were in Florence, with a brief interlude of sun on our last day. Much of our time was therefore spent working out how to stay relatively dry. This proved impossible for Chris, who acquired a leak in his only pair of shoes, and squelched round the campsite and sights of Florence.
We had to keep reminding ourselves everything would look different in the sun. Nevertheless, Florence is an amazing place, especially the Duomo and Baptistero.
