In 2001 we took early retirement and moved to France.
We set up home in the tiny holiday house – Le Mazet – we bought in 1992, on the southern edge of the Cévennes, but retained a British base in Brighton
In 2003 we built a small guesthouse, several terraces above our existing home, primarily to provide our daughters with somewhere to stay when visiting.
After eight years I persuaded Chris that we needed to live somewhere larger. At first we thought of extending our existing home, but then decided it was more realistic to expand the guesthouse. The building project lasted most of 2008 and was completed six weeks after Chris died. I moved up there in November 2008, and this remains my home, with the former little house below becoming our guesthouse or gite.
