Every day the weather is different. Earlier this week we had violent winds, and then no wind but damp, depressing rain. Yesterday we walked along the beach near Montpellier enjoying sun, the lightest of breezes and temperatures approaching 20. Today it has got colder and colder, it has been 8 degrees since the afternoon, and the winds are rising again.
Only two weeks ago we were revelling in the glorious late autumn. Now it is winter, and the wind is doing its best to strip the autumn colours off the trees. Still, these rapidly turning conditions also bring quite a few days with splendid rainbows. It is amazing how often the arc falls on the chateau in Serres – and next to it, the house of my friends, Hans and Margaret.
