Last year I did nothing and saw nobody on my birthday apart from zoom chats with the family . Yesterday I was 78 and decided to be more sociable.
Probably breaking the rules, I invited my vaccinated friends Margaret and Hans, Charles and Pierre, and Dessa to tea. Too cold to sit outside, we sat round the table with the door wide open.
Much as I would like to share the photos of their visit, I respect their privacy, so content myself with a snapshot of my cake. (Luckily for a very reluctant cook, it is perfectly acceptable in France to offer a cake from the patisserie.)
