My journey was a mixture of visits to the well-known (justifiably) towns of northern India, plus some very rewarding visits to lesser known places – Nawalghar, Bundi and Ochha.

From Delhi I went first to the Shekhawati region, to the small town of Nawalghar, and on to the desert town of Bikaner, also off the main tourist track. Then I followed the travelled route through Rajashthan: to Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur (via Ranakpur). Another diversion – to Chittorharh and Bundi – before finishing the Rajasthan tour with Jaipur.

After just over two weeks of travelling, I arrived in Agra, for the long awaited visit to the Taj Mahal. From there I went to the quiet town of Orchha before tackling the difficult roads to Khajuraho and from Khajuraho to Varanasi.
