mazet

A mazet (or mazet) was a small dry-stone building used by farmers in the past for seasonal shelter and to store agricultural produce, tools and animals.

Over the years our mazet acquired a fireplace, doors, windows, and further rooms.. Here it is in 1992.

Today Le Mazet retains its former charm and Cévenol character. The main room, has a large old fireplace, wooden ceiling and dry-stone walls. One wall has a mural painted by a French sculptress, Agnes O'Neill.

The kitchen is well-equipped and, as well as the larder fridge, there is a fridge-freezer in the cave (cellar) below.

There are two double bedrooms, one of which leads directly onto the south-facing terrace. Bed linen is supplied.

There is a stone paved terrace, partly shaded by a lime tree, equiped with barbecue, and several other terraces for visitors to bask in the sunshine.
