Walking

This is a walker's paradise, with seemingly limitless randonnees (the footpath system and endless opportunities to climb a summit and gaze of the panorama of rolling hills in front.

There are walks to suit all levels: gentle circular strolls round this and neighbouring valleys to more ambitious treks along the many randonnées - official walkways.

Cycling

The network of narrow country lanes lend themselves to exploring on a bike. This is hilly country, yet the gradients are generally manageable. For the more ambitious, there are several routes up into the mountains.

Swimming

There are many bathing places in the local rivers, starting with le Rieumage, beside le Souls (our local river), about 400 metres from the house. There are larger swimming areas along the Hérault, as it winds down towards the sea, and the Mediterranean is 90 minutes away by car.

Or you can go kayaking on the River Hérault (just south of Ganges).

Riding

There is a riding centre across the valley, catering for all ages and abilities. You can take lessons, or join in a walk through the neighbouring woods and hills.

Pottering

Throughout the year there is a busy programme of local markets, fairs, exhibitions, concerts, communal meals ...

Exploring

Cirque de Navacelles, Grotte des Demoiselles, Viaduc de Millau - these are the well known nearby sites. But there are countless old churches, picturesque villages, magnifienct scenic circuits to discover.
